Winter 2023

Join us at Yirranma Place for a lunchtime concert featuring organist Robert Fox on the Grand Heritage organ.

It was Mozart who famously said, “To my eyes and ears the organ will ever be the King of Instruments”.  Come and hear our amazing King of Instruments at Yirranma Place deliver all the colours of the musical rainbow, from soft strings to the floor-shaking thunder of the Full Organ!

The Two Good Co cafe will be open before and after the recital where a range of lunch options are available for purchase.

Performer

Robert Fox, organist

Our resident organist Robert Fox was first associated with this instrument when he used it for his HSC Music performance exam in 1967. The church retained him as one of its organists more or less continuously until its closure in 2010.

Robert is the School Organist at Shore School in North Sydney and is currently President of the Organ Music Society of Sydney.

He has given recitals in Sydney’s major venues and has played some of the world’s most famous instruments including those in Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral London, and King’s College in Cambridge.

Venue

Yirranma Place is a philanthropic precinct with social purpose at its heart.

“Yirranma” is translated from Gadigal to “many-create”. This indicates the purpose of the precinct - a place where people come together to create and connect in the Darlinghurst neighbourhood. Yirranma Place is a space where for-purpose organisations, social enterprises, and people working for social change can collaborate; and for the local community to enjoy, from picking up a coffee to browsing displays, or attending an event.
